Eighth R.L. Shep Triennial Symposium on Textiles and Dress: Lee Alexander McQueen | Display and Discourse

In conjunction with the exhibition Lee Alexander McQueen: Brain, Mythos, Muse, renowned scholars will investigate imagination, creative procedure, and innovation in fashion and artwork to even further look at the interdisciplinary impulse that outlined McQueen’s career, legacy, and resources of inspiration. 

Vital to all trend exhibitions are curatorial collaborations concerning mounting gurus and artists on the exhibit of costume objects. Costume and Textiles installation professional Melinda Kerstein discusses her position in Intellect, Mythos, Muse and how she worked with the curators from the inception of the exhibition to devise and make mounts for every garment in ways that served to help each thematic area, all all through a world wide pandemic. Artist and designer Michael Schmidt, the creator of customized-created headpieces included into the exhibition, elaborates on his methodology and his sources of inspiration, reflecting on the work of Lee Alexander McQueen and the mother nature of the innovative approach.
